With the popular walking, cycling, fishing and water sports location of Carsington Water only 2 miles away, Poplars Farm is the ideal place to take a break.  Accessible easily from the site are many pleasant walks, the local pub, The Nag's Head, and a shop.

DINING OUT 

In the village ~  The Nag's Head, The Farm Shop for take aways and breakfast cobs (on Facebook The Flower Shop)

Also, a short ride away, Carsington Water with its upstairs restaurant with views over the water, The Railway Inn, Shottle (3 miles away) and The Tiger at Turnditch (1.5 miles), the Hanging Gate (4 miles), The Red Lion in Hognaston (3 miles)

Step back in time and visit the Barley Mow in Kirk Ireton~ it is a picturesque walk to Kirk Ireton up and down the country lanes (a good cardiac work out!).

 

Within 2- 3 is Carsington Water, Kirk Ireton and other surrounding villages.

The bus stops to Ashbourne, Belper and Derby are adjacent to the site with buses running every day except Sunday.  With a change of bus, you can access Matlock, Buxton and many other places. Traveline is good for planning bus & train journeys (Bus routes 113 & 114)

 The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is 3 miles away

For quad biking, paint balling, the pub in the woods and more, visit Wild Park, just 5 miles away.

 

Within 6 miles, visit Ashbourne, Belper, Wirksworth, the Tissington Trail and bike hire, Ilam and Kedleston Hall (the site is a great base for National Trust members).  Enjoy walking and cycling on the High Peak Trail.  See the beautiful Peak District.

 

Within 10 miles find Matlock, Matlock Bath, Dovedale and the famous Stepping Stones, Crich Tramway museum, Cromford Canal and the Mill  which is part of the World Heritage site. 

 

Within 20 miles is Chatsworth, Bakewell, Buxton, Thorpe Cloud, Milldale, Beresford Dale, Monsal Dale and Trail, Elvaston Castle, Alton Towers, Hartington, Edale and Eyam, the plague village.
